Michael Baker's first office in Alaska opened in 1942. Since then, we have played a key role in some of Alaska's most renowned infrastructure projects, including groundbreaking projects on the North Slope and the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System.

We continue to focus on cold regions engineering-pipelines, transportation, hydrology, geotechnical & specialty professional services, permitting & regulatory compliance, and GIS & LiDAR mapping.

Michael Baker's Anchorage and Fairbanks, Alaska offices are filled with professionals dedicated to meeting the most demanding and complex challenges.

We have designed and managed projects and programs throughout Alaska for 70 years.

MECHANICAL ENGINEER DESCRIPTION

As a part of our Engineering team, the Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for leading technical design tasks in support of pipeline and other related projects in Alaska.

Must be proficient in technical writing and both oral and written communication. Communication and organizational skills among the project team, including client interfacing is a must.

The Mechanical Engineer will work closely with the Project Manager(s), provide PM support as needed and may be asked to lead projects or project components from time to time.

As a Mechanical Engineer you will lead and mentor Mechanical Associates, Designers and Drafters who support the project work.

Ability to maintain positivity and productivity during work peaks and valleys is a necessity.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Four-year degree (BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent)
  • 4 - 8 years' experience
  • Current State of Alaska Professional Engineering License
  • Experience with Arctic region engineering design a plus
  • AutoPIPE, Navisworks, and Bluebeam software preferred
  • Computer Aided Design software proficiency
  • Must demonstrate excellent speaking, oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, clients and public officials.

COMPENSATION

The approximate compensation range for this position is $103,229 - $162,600. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.

Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
