Position SummaryThe Senior Clinical Scientist is an important member of the R&D team who will participate in the design and execution of clinical research activities including development of grant proposals for funding from federal as well as private sources and writing and reporting of findings from our conducted research activities both for internal as well as external use, including peer-reviewed publications.

This person brings previously established clinical and / or research relationships and experiences that facilitate development and execution of clinical research activities.

Combined with the existing experiences and expertise in the RxFunction team, this individual’s skillset will further enhance the R&D team’s productivity to function as an internal CRO and an important conduit in developing marketing and training materials.

Research activities may include internally initiated studies as well as external independent investigator-initiated ones as well as guiding and supporting external research initiatives.

  • Initiate, guide and participate in design and execution of clinical research activities, including pilot studies as well as multi-site clinical trials across all phases.
  • Collaborate with members of the RxFunction team related to research activities and the dissemination of findings to relevant internal and external customers.
  • Engage with external and internal customers related to clinical research activities and help identify and translate research findings user needs into technical design inputs and design concepts.
  • Lead and support research related activities as needed.
  • In a non-supervisory capacity, provide coaching, and guidance regarding project tasks to other engineers, designers, technicians, and associates.
  • Contribute to, and champion research initiatives.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in relevant clinical, biomedical or epidemiological field.
  • 5+ years of post-doctoral experience including involvement in clinical trial activities.
  • Experience as Principal Investigator on federal, e.g. NIH, NSF, DOD, and / or competitive foundation grants.
  • Clinical and / or academic research experience, including GCP.
  • Ability to identify new research questions and inquiry opportunities, disseminate new findings to multiple stakeholders, and make recommendations for implementing improvements or changes.
  • Authorship on scientific peer-reviewed articles in the medical, biomedical or epidemiological field.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, written and oral with demonstrated ability disseminate scholarly ideas and findings effectively in various venues, including conferences, committees, publications, and group meetings.
  • Experience with clinical trial design / execution and using Electronic Data Capture systems.
  • Proficiency in the use of PC and programs, including for statistical analysis and MS, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of research methods, including research design, data collection, analysis techniques (quantitative and / or qualitative), and interpretation of results.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis procedures and software packages commonly used in clinical research.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of federal regulations of medical devices.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management System.
  • Experience working with virtual clinical trials.
  • ISO 14971 and risk management.
  • High Do / Say ratio.
