Description

The Operations Manager is an integral part of the production team and is accountable along with other Operations personnel (group leaders, supervisors etc.

for the achievement of the Anoplate Corporate Operating Goals in Safety, Culture, Environmental Compliance, Quality, Delivery and Productivity.

As the Operations Manager you will guide a growth focused organization by upholding our Core Values, providing superior customer service and driving continuous improvement.

The Operations Manager ensures that processes are in place and followed to optimize throughput and to meet our customer's process specifications and delivery expectations.

The Operations Manager will provide inspired leadership, make strategic decisions and develop and implement operational policies and procedures.

You will also provide significant Guidance and Leadership to help support a company culture that encourages high morale and performance.

Essential Functions :

Leadership and Organizational

  • Demonstrates strong leadership and motivational skills. Must be able to coach and influence people to meet targeted goals using strong servant leadership skills.
  • Promotes a high standard of ethical behavior and adherence to the company Core Values and helps promote a company culture that encourages top performance and high morale.
  • Excellent communicator that clearly defines goals and objectives. Holds the overall responsibility for defining and communicating the vision, mission, and operational objectives for the operations team.
  • Owns the financial performance of their respective business unit and is responsible for meeting or exceeding planned financial goals and key operating performance targets on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Responsible for developing, tracking and meeting operational budgets.
  • Examines financial data and uses it to improve financial performance.

Optimizing throughput and increasing capacity

  • Ensures optimal operational efficiency at lowest cost while meeting the strategic objectives of the company, specifically Safety, Culture, Environmental Compliance, Quality, Delivery and Productivity.
  • Uses Key Performance Indicator data as a tool to sustain and continuously improve performance.
  • Owns the responsibility of implementation and sustainment of CI activities (6S, TPM, Standardized Work etc.)
  • Hands on experience implementing and sustaining Lean initiatives.
  • Leads production team in the analysis of capacity, rework (internal and external) and delivery data and develops CI projects to improve these areas.
  • Partners with the quality team to ensure that the site quality culture is based on process controls and continuous improvement, and that production is executed in accordance with applicable safety protocol, regulatory requirements, internal standards and customer requirements.
  • Builds process control and documentation into the everyday culture and ensures enforces adherence to documented processes, procedures and methods.

Personnel Management and Development

  • Works with Supervisors and Training to develop Next Level Leaders through continued Operations personnel succession planning.
  • Works with other Operation Managers to meet delivery commitments by flexing resources across the company to augment capacity needs in other areas.
  • Identifies training gaps and works with Training Team to develop plans to meet our customer demand and to grow our team's depth and flexibility through cross-training.

Training plans will be based on business needs and forecast.

Responsible for the supervision and training of staff to include hiring, firing and evaluating / documenting performance

Requirements

Experience Required :

6-10 years Managerial experience in a high mix manufacturing / lean environment.

Education :

BS, BA, AS, AAS or equivalent desired

Technical Skills :

  • Proven ability to identify appropriate lean tools then implement and sustain them in a dynamic job shop.
  • Strong Root Cause and Corrective Action background. Leads and supports root cause / corrective action initiatives
  • Ability to perform technical math and interpret blueprints
  • Proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Tableau a plus
  • Ability to persuade, influence and negotiate
