Job Title : EHS Supervisor
Job Description
This position will lead the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) efforts at the Union City site. The role involves ensuring that safety and environmental policies are followed, best practices are implemented to control and mitigate hazards, and compliance with OSHA standards is maintained.
Responsibilities
- Analyze operational functions and develop, update, and train on safety policies, SOPs, JHAs, and procedures.
- Maintain metrics and trend data to evaluate and address areas for safety improvement.
- Conduct PPE assessments and distribute accordingly.
- Perform, report, and monitor risk assessments on all job functions.
- Investigate accidents and near misses, developing and implementing corrective actions to eliminate hazards.
- Conduct root cause investigations for all incidents, working with affected parties and management.
- Assess equipment installations and modifications to ensure they meet all safety requirements and OSHA standards.
- Manage the worker’s compensation process and oversee claims reporting and management.
- Establish and coordinate internal teams to promote and respond to safety and environmental issues.
- Lead safety committee and first responder teams to raise safety awareness and involvement.
- Assist with security surveys and personnel, providing directions as needed.
- Coordinate and / or conduct safety inspections, issuing hot work and confined space permits as directed.
- Conduct safety training to ensure personal safety and support organizational legal and moral obligations.
- Conduct safety orientation for new hires and contractors.
- Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA) and CAL OSHA requirements.
- Manage ongoing communication to employees about workplace hazards and the importance of compliance with safety standards.
- Develop programs that engage employees in safety awareness and recognize positive safety behaviors.
- Manage the California River Watch program and CUPA program to stay in compliance with regulations.

Essential Skills
- Safety, Health & Safety, OSHA regulations
- Customer service
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Audit, Reporting, Data entry
- Safety training and program management
- 2+ years in EHS, Compliance, Environmental health
- OSHA 30 certification
- Strong regulatory knowledge in federal, state, and local EPA, OSHA regulations
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in delivering presentations and executive reports
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Intelex (EHS Management platform) and Alchemy (Training platform)
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to prioritize and assess risk to the business
- Expected to identify, communicate / escalate, and problem-solve issues as they arise
- Familiarity with CUPA and Eco Track requirements
- Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), and / or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) are nice-to-have certifications

Work Environment
The work environment includes both office and floor activities, such as auditing processes, implementing safety measures, cleaning up accidents, and working with hazardous waste removal companies and plant security.
The office is located on the floor, and there is a heavy smell of chocolate. The shift is 8 AM to 4 : 30 PM, Monday through Friday, with the need to be on call 24 / 7 due to the nature of the role.
