The position involves accounting for a variety of mortgage servicing rights transactions, including asset sales, acquisitions, hedging activity, fair value analysis and recordation.
Transaction details come from a variety of sources and require advanced spreadsheet skills to summarize, track and reconcile.
Primary Job functions
- Assume primary responsibility for recording all mortgage servicing rights transactions, including amortization, fair value, sales, acquisitions, and hedging activity.
- Prepare various journal entries and account reconciliations related to mortgage servicing rights to facilitate monthly close deadlines.
- Assist in preparation of financial reporting information as required for SEC, statutory and compliance related reporting.
- Maintain spreadsheet models and reports used in the accounting process.
- Interact with secondary marketing to resolve reconciliation variances.
- Ability to understand process flow and how your tasks affect the larger picture.
- Collaborate with our business partners in Servicing to resolve issues and build efficiencies.
- Work with internal and external auditors and examiners to provide accurate, complete, and timely information.
Education, experience and skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 3+ years of related accounting experience required.
- Mortgage industry experience preferred.
- Public accounting experience preferred.
- Very proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Must have very strong analytical and reconciliation skills using advanced spreadsheet functions.
- Must be able to understand complex transactions, with strong attention to detail.
- Team oriented with ability to interact within and outside of the organization.
- Ability to self-motivate and flexibility to collaborate with business associates in a remote workforce if needed.
- Must be able to handle multiple priorities and meet daily deadlines with quality in a fast-paced, very complex environment.
