SCFS is seeking a part-time Assistant Teacher to support and collaborate with the K / 1st Grade Lead Teacher. Assistant Teachers work directly with students in all subject areas and partner with the Lead Teacher to deliver a mission-aligned social-emotional and academic program in a mixed-age classroom.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In the classroom, the Assistant Teacher :

• assists students on-on-one;
• contributes to classroom management and behavior management;
• supervises students independently;
• works with small groups of students;
• prepares materials;
• supports the Lead Teacher across the academic and social-emotional program as needed.

In addition to classroom duties, the Assistant Teacher :

• under the supervision of the Lead Teacher, leads lessons and facilitates formative assessments for small groups of students;
• attends in-service;
• participates in Back-to-School Night, family-teacher conferences, and other school events;
• facilitates class field trips;
• completes other duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher or Head of School, consistent with the position of an Assistant Teacher and member of the faculty.

REQUIREMENTS

• 2- or 4-year college degree
• Experience working with children in a school setting
• An understanding of Quaker values aligned with the SCFS mission statement

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position includes, but is not limited to : moving; bending; walking, including at a fast pace, both indoors and outdoors;

lifting up to 50 pounds; kneeling; squatting; sitting on the floor; standing for long periods of time; climbing stairs.

PART-TIME, HOURLY : This is a 9-month position that includes up to 34 hours per week on site and occasional evening or weekend events. $15 / hour
