Lumina is looking for an Accounting Intern to join our team in Maryland.

This position is a paid internship with the potential for extension into a full-time role. The Accounting Internship will provide you with real-world application of GAAP and financial principles, exposure to full-cycle accounting, and the opportunity to develop relevant skills in various accounting functions.

You will gain valuable insights into the accounting profession and build a strong foundation for your future career.

In this role, you'll get to :

  • Collaborate with the accounting team to compile and analyze data, track information, and support company operations.
  • Process daily inventory transactions, including purchases and usage; perform physical counts of inventory and reconcile accounts at month-end.
  • Participate in reconciling general ledger accounts and preparing financial reports.
  • Gain experience in full-cycle accounting and assist with month-end close procedures.
  • Support the accounting manager and senior accountants with additional month-end tasks.
  • Contribute to ad hoc projects as required by the organization.
  • Perform other general accounting duties as assigned.

On your first day, we'll expect you to have :

  • Enrollment in or recent graduation from a bachelor's degree program in accounting or finance.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to meticulously review and verify financial information to ensure accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and complex formulas, to effectively manage and analyze financial data.
  • Knowledge and experience with accounting tools and software, to support various accounting tasks and processes.
  • Strong mathematical skills, with the capability to perform precise calculations, reconciliations, and data analysis to support accurate financial reporting.
  • A general understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and their application in daily accounting activities.
  • Availability to work on-site a minimum of 3 days per week, totaling 20-35 hours.
