A Group Benefits Broker Manager is responsible for leading a team of brokers or agents who specialize in selling and managing group benefit plans, such as health, dental, life, and disability insurance, for businesses and organizations.

This role involves overseeing the broker team’s activities, developing strategies to increase sales, managing client relationships, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

Position Summary :

The Group Benefits Broker Manager will lead and manage a team of brokers responsible for selling and servicing group benefits products.

The role requires a strong understanding of group insurance, leadership skills, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and carriers.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Team Leadership & Management :
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of group benefits brokers.
  • Set performance goals and conduct regular performance evaluations.
  • Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for team members.

Sales Strategy & Execution :

  • Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve business objectives.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with marketing and product teams to create effective sales campaigns and materials.

Client Relationship Management :

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Address and resolve client issues or concerns promptly.

Carrier Relations :

  • Maintain strong relationships with insurance carriers and underwriters.
  • Negotiate with carriers to obtain competitive rates and coverage options for clients.
  • Stay informed about carrier products, underwriting guidelines, and compliance requirements.

Reporting & Analysis :

  • Prepare regular reports on sales performance, market trends, and client satisfaction.
  • Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Report on team performance to senior management.

Qualifications :

  • 215 or 240 Health Insurance License
  • Proven experience in the group benefits industry, with a focus on sales and account management.
  • Prior experience in a leadership or management role.
  • Strong understanding of group insurance products, underwriting, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience working with a variety of insurance carriers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
