JOB INFORMATION Job Code : A Job Title : Radiology Assistant (Union) FLSA Status : Non-Exempt Cost Center : Blank JOB SUMMARY The Radiology Assistant provides patient transport services between Imaging Departments and patient care areas.

The Radiology Assistant may also move equipment and supplies throughout the Imaging Departments and patient care areas as well as directing visitors and guests throughout the Medical Center.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Req Pref Functional Skills X Must have excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak, read and write English proficiently.

Licenses / Certifications Req Pref Select Licenses / Certifications Enter Additional Licenses / Certifications X Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association X Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date.

Required within LA City only) JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Transports patients between patient care units via bed, gurney, or wheelchair.
  • Assists in the maintenance of wheelchairs and gurneys. JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Returns equipment to its proper storage location.
  • Ensures all equipment is safe for use, inspects prior to use.
  • Confirms patient identity using proper patient identifiers (name and birthdate) prior to transport.
  • Uses the voalte phones to log all transports performed throughout the day.
  • Cheerfully greets patient before transporting them.
  • Assists in the cleaning of wheelchairs and gurneys.
  • Performs Hand Hygiene before and after patient contact.
  • Transports patients to and from the department, as necessary.
  • Notifies departments of delays in transport.
  • Communicates effectively with all patients, co-workers, and visitors. Works closely with Lead Technologist, and Department Coordinators.
  • Assists Imaging technical staff as needed.
  • Performs other duties as requested
  • Transports patients to Outpatient Imaging Center as requested.
  • Works weekends and holidays as requested. Other Requirements Essential : Emergency Response / Recovery Essential Mandated Reporter In the event of an emergency, the employee holding this position is required to "report to duty in accordance with the university's Emergency Operations Plan and / or the employee's department's emergency response and / or recovery plans.

Familiarity with those plans and regular training to implement those plans is required. During or immediately following an emergency, the employee will be notified to assist in the emergency response efforts, and mobilize other staff members if needed.

A mandated reporter who in his or her professional capacity has knowledge of, or reasonably suspects a person who is under the age of years, elderly, or a dependent adult has been the victim of abuse or neglect must report the suspected incident.

The reporter must contact a designated agency immediately or as soon as practically possible by telephone or in writing within hours.
