Client Overview : Recognized globally for its iconic design and technological innovation, our client is a leading high-end Italian lighting brand, both in the residential and architectural sectors.

To assist in their daily operations, we have been hired to assist them in the recruitment of a Business Development Manager to support their business growth in New York and New Jersey.

Job title : Business Development Manager - New York / New Jersey

Mission : The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving new business within your assigned geographical region as defined by the Director of contract sales.

This includes building lasting relationships with architects, interior and lighting designers, engineers, contractors, and end users.

The BDM also manages the relationship with third party vendors (agents) to generate revenue.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Developing direct relationships with key influencers in the selection of lighting on projects including but not limited to lighting designers, architects, etc.
  • Encouraging sales with third-party representatives through product training, sales calls and project follow up, rep shows, and opportunity management.
  • Pricing for budgetary requests.
  • Involvement in industry organizations such as IALD, IES, AIA, ASID at a local level.
  • Active Participation in Local and National Events such Exhibitions,Fair.
  • Involvement with key account and national account activities.
  • Communicating monthly reports on anticipated project closings and the dollar value and products associated with them.
  • Manage activities to an annual budget for travel and expenses incurred
  • Maintain opportunity / project database in CRM.
  • Support sales team.

Qualifications and Skills :

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The ability to communicate information, whether technical or non-technical to staff members and customers, in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong understanding of lighting terms, architectural terms, and the ability to read construction drawings and documents preferred.
  • Strong understanding of lighting industry in the US; preferable experience in Contract Business.
  • Technical skills required to understand and propose products or solutions by focusing on client requirements.
  • BS or BA degree preferred and at least 5 years proven track record in business sales or related markets desired.
  • Excellent organization skills, with emphasis on timeliness, priorities, and goal setting
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Other information : Candidate must show proof of US citizenship / visa / alien registration. No sponsorship will be offered for this role.
