About the CECH Systems Development and Improvement Center

The Systems Development & Improvement (SDI) Center in Dublin, Ohio fosters the development, implementation, and evaluation of PK20 education research and demonstration efforts that improve opportunities to learn for children and youth, their families, and the professionals who support them.

At the core of many Center activities is a commitment to advocacy on behalf of all children, as well as partnerships - with school districts, with professional associations, with institutions of higher education, with regional providers, with the state - that improve conditions and outcomes for students with disabilities and other marginalized groups of learners (e.

g., learners who are economically disadvantaged, learners at risk of school failure for a variety of reasons, etc.).

Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati’s Systems Development & Improvement (UC SDI) Center in Dublin, Ohio is seeking a Junior Research Associate to conduct mentored research.

The candidate will have opportunities to contribute to multiple research projects related to the use of evidence-based practices in education and in systems thinking to design and implement practices that build capacity systemwide to scale and sustain research efforts.

Candidate must live in the Dublin area. Funding for this position is based upon the availability of external funds.

Essential Functions

  • Support the research agenda related to the mission of the UC Systems Development & Improvement Center (UC SDI) to foster the development, implementation, and evaluation of PK20 education research and demonstration efforts that improve opportunities to learn for children and youth, their families, and the professionals who support them.
  • Support Center efforts to identify and obtain sources of funding to expand the UC SDI research agenda.
  • Support the design and delivery of professional learning content and delivery formats using a variety of computer technologies to improve family engagement and capacity to advocate for their children;

and district-school, and teacher leader capacity to improve results for students with disabilities, multilingual / second language learners, and other students with learning challenges.

  • Support the Center’s work in the provision of technical assistance to improve learning opportunities and outcomes for highly-mobile children with disabilities, including those whose primary language is not English, and the capacity of special education (SE) and SE leadership personnel to meet their academic and social-behavioral needs.
  • Contribute to building strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., school districts, regional providers, institutions of higher education, state officials), partners, consultants, and others to continually improve the quality, relevance, and usefulness of Center services and the effective implementation of approved project activities.
  • Organize data search and analysis procedures, summarize results, report findings, and support project management.
  • Independently work on designated whole projects / problems, while also working as part of collaborative Center teams and contributing effectively to the collective team effort to accomplish assigned results for project / studies.
  • Participate in information dissemination activities including presentations at a variety of national, state, regional, and local meetings and events to expand awareness and reach of Center project activities.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Five years’ experience supporting the education of children.
  • Experience supporting multilingual / second language learners.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Experience with event (e.g., professional learning sessions) management.
  • Experience supporting adult learning activities.
