We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our dedicated team in our outpatient medical oncology / hematology private practice on a per diem basis.
As a LPN, you will play a vital role in providing direct patient care, supporting the medical team, and ensuring a positive experience for our patients undergoing cancer treatment.
This is a full-time position, Monday - Friday.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Assess and monitors therapy of patients using appropriate technical skills under the direction and supervision of a physician.
- Exhibit passion for and experience in Oncology patient care
- Manage patients with oncologic and hematologic diagnoses
- Perform basic lab tests such as phlebotomy, collection of other lab specimens, and EKGs
- Prepare and administer Injections and document medication under a physician’s order
- Duties will include administration of IV, and oral medications, vascular access device maintenance and monitoring, chemotherapy / immunotherapy administration, blood administration, therapeutic phlebotomy, assessment of patient symptoms and the management of side effects, and over all collaboration on patient treatment plans
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and families throughout treatment
- Triages patient / family phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in the patient's chart.
- Assesses patient / family needs and provides teaching.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Graduate of an accredited LPN program
- Current New York State LPN license
- 2+ years of clinical experience in an outpatient oncology setting preferred
- Strong clinical skills, including IV insertion and medication administration.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
