Athena is looking for an Social Art Director to join our Creative Agency.

The Campaign Team within our Creative Group produces thoughtful and elevated creative to represent a Fortune 30 brand across different mediums.

We’re looking for a motivated social media art director who engages with targeted audiences and has a comprehensive understanding of various social media platforms (paid and organic media).

The candidate should have a range of skills and be comfortable with visual design and typography as well as video and photography content.

This job requires a level of quickness, so the ideal candidate should be able to quickly ideate, design and / or shoot photos, videos, or layouts in a fast-paced environment.

This person should possess the ability to translate interesting and often complex ideas to life.

While their focus will be on social media and will work in tandem with a copywriter, we see the role as broader - collaborating with other teams within the Creative Group.

Our ideal candidate has the following :

• Strong portfolio that shows range, with examples of multi-platform, social media work
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language
• Additional or developing design skills (e.g., animation, photo editing, etc.) are a plus
• Thorough knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, working knowledge of Figma, and ability in photo editing / colorizing.
• Strong understanding of composition, with an eye for detail while following brand guidelines
• Ability to work quickly in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects at once
• Responsible for the overall visual aspects of a campaign and will coordinate the work of other artistic or design staff
• Has the ability to be future thinking and strategic
• Has an energetic and optimistic attitude and cares about creating powerful work.
• Has a self-motivated, proactive, strategic mentality.
• Combines campaign concepts and high-level visual design.
• Has hands-on proficiency in the formal elements of design, including typography, layout, balance, proportion, rhythm, emphasis, and unity.
• Skilled in Adobe Creative Cloud software (i.e., InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
• Delivers conceptual, platform-driven work with superior design in a broad range of media. Especially film, video, animation, and social.
• Designs comps, storyboards, initial graphic concepts, and final deliverables.
• Collaborates with Copywriters to ensure that both the copy and the visuals work in unison to make the creative as powerful and captivating as possible.
• Experience with animation and 3D software is a plus.

Requirements

And should have the following experience and skills :

• 5+ years of experience
• Previous agency experience is necessary, ideally supporting a corporate brand
• Highly motivated, self-starter, with a conceptual mind
• Experience working as part of an Art Director / Copywriter team
• Demonstrates attention to detail, personal organization, and interpersonal skills
• Solid organization and time management skills
• Desire to work in a fast paced, innovative, and collaborative environment
