Job Details Description

An Energy Modeler II isresponsible for modeling and analyzing building energy use toinform design decisions and development of energy conservationstrategies.

This work is done in coordination with our buildingdesign and energy consulting teams. This position works acrossbuilding types and market sectors to include federal / state / localgovernment education (higher education and K12 schools) andcommercial facilities.

Generalresponsibilities include but are not limited to thefollowing :

• Creatingbuilding energy models to quantify annual energy consumption andreport results in terms of energy cost and emissionsmetrics.
• Collaborating with architects &engineers to help projects achieve high performanceoutcomes
• Collaborating with our energyconsulting team to analyze and develop energy conservationstrategies for decarbonization energy retrofits and relatedprograms.
• Preparing graphics and authoringreports to communicate the results of analyses andstudies.
• Presenting results to project teamsand clients in formal and informal settings.
• Reporting project performance to the firms AIA 2030 andMEP 2040 commitments.
• Participating in teammeetings and coordinating efforts with other teammembers
• Working with responding to and takingdirection from senior engineers project managers managingprincipals and operations directors.

Project responsibilities include but are notlimited to the following :

• Wholebuilding energy modeling ranging from simple box todetailed code compliance models.
• Life cyclecost analyses to inform high performance building design strategiesor energy conservation measures.
• Participationin project team work sessions and client charrettes to identifyhigh performance building strategies in support of designefforts.
• Authoring code compliancedocumentation for energy emissions and / or waterperformance.
• Authoring reports andpresentations to relay performance outcomes and alternatives forinternal and external audiences.
• Authoringdocumentation for compliance with third party sustainability orenergy rating systems including LEED Green Globes Energy Star andrelated measures.

Education Technology andExperience

• Undergraduateand / or Masters Degree in Architecture Engineering EnvironmentalScience or building physicsrelated field.
• Building energy modeling experience using IES VETrane Trace EnergyPlus eQuest Designbuilder or equivalent softwareis required.
• Buildingenergy modeling and simulation certifications such as ASHRAEBuilding Energy Modeling Professional are stronglyencouraged.
• Sustainabilitycertifications such as LEED Accredited Professional Well AccreditedProfessional and / or Green Globes Professional aredesirable.
• Building architecture orengineering design experience is desirable.
