Marvel Fusion, founded in 2019 and based in Munich, Germany, and Fort Collins, Colorado, United States, is a technology pioneer in the field of safe, clean, and reliable power generation.

With the aim of solving one of the biggest problems of humanity, we are developing a completely new type of fusion energy technology that dramatically increases the probability of fusion and builds on recent advances in laser and nanoscience.

The impact you will make

As a Laser Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and operation of a cutting-edge, high-repetition laser system and beam transport system for our state-of-the-art high-power laser facility in Ft.

Collins, CO, USA. This new facility aims to demonstrate the unique features of our laser-driven fusion concept, marking significant strides toward fusion energy generation.

More specifically, you will :

• Be part of a dynamic team responsible for setting up and operating the laser infrastructure, which includes the measurement, design, and implementation of optical components and diagnostics for intense laser-plasma interactions
• Be actively involved in all stages of the process, contributing to the project's implementation
• Your expertise will be crucial from the initial design and prototype phases through to the building and verification of various components

This role is primarily based in the Fort Collins area, with occasional travel to research facilities worldwide.

What you bring

• Completed Ph.D. in Physics, Optical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent breadth and depth of experience
• Expertise in designing and operating ultra-high-intensity and high-contrast laser systems' beam delivery systems
• Ability to design high-precision optomechanical components and perform simulations in Zemax
• Experience in analytic and numerical laser pulse propagation studies
• Hands-on experience in the installation and alignment of optics and diagnostics for PW laser operation
• Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including engineers, scientists, suppliers, and customers
• Excellent writing and oral communication skills in English
• Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer

The pay range for this position is $90,000 - $150,000 a year.

This pay range may be inclusive of several career levels and will be narrowed based on several factors, including the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

Candidates may be considered for other positions at Marvel Fusion, and our actual base salary will be determined on an individual basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

The range is published in accordance with Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.
