Position Summary

Reporting to the Head of Metrea Aerospace Design, the Aircraft Certification Engineer will provide engineering support in an aircraft modification environment to provide certification reports in support of FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) development.

Support internal and external customers (e.g. production personnel, suppliers, materials, quality, design), as well as to other engineers.

Act as liaison between the shop floor and design / certification engineering personnel.

Adhere to company standards for configuration control, file management and change control. Exercise initiative, continuous improvement and attention to detail to improve design and drawing quality, completeness and accuracy.

Ability to multi-task and maintain a positive attitude in a fast paced, changing environment. Able to work independently with limited oversight but will ask questions when necessary.

Self-motivated to make efficient use of time for the benefit of the company during slow or unsupervised periods.

Essential Functions Statement :

  • Design and develop aircraft system installations.
  • Create engineering drawing packages including system diagrams and equipment installation drawings.
  • Create substantiation and analysis documents that detail technical aspects of an aircraft system installation.
  • Create test plans for system installations, including ground and flight plans and reports.
  • Coordinate with customers, equipment manufacturers, vendors, test labs, and installation shops.
  • Support on-aircraft ground and flight-testing activities related to new system installations.
  • Research existing FAA regulations and guidance regarding installation.
  • Create supporting documents required for FAA certification.
  • Works with own initiative in problem solving without appreciable direction; work is reviewed and approved by cognizant engineers, or DERs.
  • Collaborate with various engineering, manufacturing, and product support teams to complete designs.
  • Participate in design reviews.
  • Prepare engineering reports and presentations.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department and the Air and Space Group Capability Units
  • Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment
  • Perform other duties as necessary
  • On-Site Work Environment : This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location
  • Work is performed in an office environment

Competency Statements

  • Demonstrable experience and or understanding of King Air 300 integrations.

Required Education and Experience

  • Education : Bachelor’s degree or 5 years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Computer Skills : AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Must be able to accomplish all duties with little or no assistance.
  • Must have good command of the English language, oral and written.
  • Experience in operations research and advanced analytical methods.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 a.

m. to 5 : 00 p.m. Hours and work shifts may change in accordance with department and business needs. Exempt Employees must have the ability to be on-call and available, as business needs require.

Non-Exempt employees may be required to work over 40 hours per week with approval from the department manager.
