Description
As a member of the professional client service team, the BV & LS Senior Accountant participates in business valuation engagements by providing expert work product and support for litigation support services including, but not limited to : marital dissolutions, damage calculations, and fraud and dispute engagements under the supervision of more experienced professionals.
A BV & LS Senior Accountant has technical knowledge and ability to handle multiple assignments in preparing for continuing advancement in the Firm.
Performance is judged based on the quality of work, application of accounting knowledge, ability to meet time constraints, and billing realization goals.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Valuation Support
- Manages data entry and analysis all facets of the Firm’s business valuation practice.
- Oversees the collection, inventory, assembly, and maintenance of source documents for business valuations.
- Directly contributes to business valuations for privately-held companies, marital dissolutions, estate and gift taxes, stockholder disputes, and any other purposes.
- 4Prepares and provides the Director with independent, well-supported, and well written valuation reports based on company research, economic and industry research, financial analysis, and mathematical modeling.
Litigation Support
- Manages data entry and analysis for complex litigated disputes.
- Utilizes expertise and experience to prepare questions for discovery and the depositions of potential witnesses and in reviewing and refuting opposing testimony and the analyses of other expert witnesses.
In collaboration with the Director, designs trial exhibits and assists in preparation for depositions and trials as needed.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or another discipline with course work in accounting.
- Proficiency with computer, spreadsheet software, and calculator.
- Well rounded knowledge of financial theory and general accounting principles and practices.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as working with others on given assignments.
- Ability to research issues using expert materials available.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills including ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
- Preferably holds a valid certificate of public accountant’s license or is working towards acquiring.
- Actively working to acquire the following certifications : ABV (AICPA - Accredited Business Valuation), CVA (NAVCA - Certified Valuation Analyst), ASA (ASA - Accredited Senior Appraiser).
