General Description
The Project Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations for construction projects ranging in value from $5M to $100M. The Project Manager will ensure that the project is completed safely, on schedule and within budget.
The Project Manager is responsible for the overall success of project execution. This includes the overall responsibility for estimating, budget, schedule, contract compliance, safety, quality of work, project closeout, and owner satisfaction.
He or she provides labor and equipment resources to staff the project adequately, monitors construction progress, sets strategic project goals, and closely monitors performance to assure the Owner’s goals are met.
The Project Manager will actively engage field supervision and project engineering teams and provide training and guidance for improvement and professional growth.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for an entire heavy highway, road and / or bridge construction project OR a major segment of a construction project
- Plan and perform complex or technical work requiring sound judgment and decision-making authority
- Manages field construction activity, engineering, and other field project(s) support activities
- Responsible for execution of the contract to meet schedule and budget
- Establishes relationships and is the point of contact with the Owner
- Responsible for administering the contract and protecting the right and remedies of the company relating to changes
- Responsible for assembling the craft workforce to execute the contract and direct management of the field supervision
- Use negotiation and contract management skills to represent the company with the owner and outside agencies
Required Skills and Experience
- 5-10 plus years’ current / recent heavy highway, road and bridge construction management experience is required
- Current / recent medium to large heavy highway, road and bridge construction project experience ($50M+) is required
- Knowledge of the local construction environment is desired
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or similar discipline is preferred
- OSHA 30 certification preferred
- A proven track record of organizing work forces to accomplish project goals
- Well-rounded base of knowledge in construction disciplines
- Strong leadership skills
