The Sr. Credit Analyst is responsible for providing analytical and underwriting support for commercial banking including an independent analysis of creditworthiness of customers and prospects.
This position will work closely with the lending function to assess the risk of commercial transactions and provide thorough documentation of the transactions.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Performs commercial credit analysis by reviewing items including, credit reports, personal / business financial statements, tax returns, appraisals, property inspections and environmental reports to complete loan presentations for approval consideration by the appropriate approval authority.
- Prepares and analyzes spreads of a company’s financial statements to determine overall credit strengths and weakness of potential commercial credit customers.
Analysis includes debt-service ratio, current assets ratio, leverage ratios, cash flow analysis, fixed charge coverage and acid test ratio.
- Performs and completes a collateral analysis of all collateral assets to accounts receivables, inventory, equipment and real estate.
- Performs credit classification analysis to include the company’s customer base, a detail credit profile of the company’s largest customers and delinquent accounts, aging analysis, delinquencies, collections and charge offs.
- Performs Inventory analysis to include inventory in days and an examination of stale inventory, spoilage, depletion and inventory valuations.
- Performs Equipment analysis to include a comparison of market value to book value and an assessment of net orderly liquidation values.
- Performs Real estate collateral analysis to include examination of appraisal and address special and single purpose use facilities and alternative uses.
- Contacts the customer or customers representative to obtain additional information or explanation detail throughout the underwriting process while coordinating with the Banker.
- Identifies and assesses various business, industry and market risks to determine and categorize business trends, growth, cyclical nature, seasonality, business cycle and stages and apply findings to credit evaluation.
- Performs business sector analyses to evaluate the health and viability of a company based upon similar businesses and / or competitors.
- Evaluates the overall growth potential of company’s bases through the application of various economic theories.
- Orders underwriting items including, but not limited to audit, TLJ and UCC searches, appraisal, environmental, flood certification, and property inspections from both internal and external sources.
- Approves final funding reconciliation in Vendor Services.
- Records and maintains external vendor order costs in Vendor Services.
- Serves as a coach and mentor to Credit Analyst trainees.
- All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related degree.
- 3+ years in SBA commercial credit analysis within a financial institution.
- 3+ years in a commercial credit analysis function within a financial institution.
- Prior management experience, preferred.
- Experience with government guaranteed lending products : SBA 7(a), SBA 504, USDA B&I Loan Programs.
- Formal credit training, preferred.
- Be recognized as a strategic thinker and creative problem solver.
- Demonstrated high-level problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders at all levels.
- Be self-motivated and an effective time and project manager with a strong attention to detail.
- Have strong change management, organizational and planning capabilities.
- Ability to identify, understand and define problems, evaluate alternatives, set priorities, manage projects and implement high quality solutions.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills with the ability to directly manage and communicate multiple projects and priorities depending on organizational needs and strategies.
- Possess strong communication skills both verbally and in writing.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT :
Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing.
Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office equipment. Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices.

The salary range for this position is $84,1000 to $120,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.
