The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture is a state wide campus, with faculty based on University campuses, at Research and Extension Centers and in every Arkansas county.

It consists of the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station (AES) and the Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service (CES), and is home to more than 1400 employees.

The Division was established in 1959 and is headed by the Vice-President for Agriculture. The Division headquarters is located in Little Rock with the rest of the University of Arkansas System Administration.

Summary of Job Duties :

This position is a 12-month 100% Extension appointment at the University of Arkansas. Relevant expertise for this position includes agricultural cash and futures markets, value-added commodity marketing, and enhancing the agriculture industry’s understanding of financial management.

The successful candidate will work closely with faculty in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness to develop a program of extension in one or more of these areas, regularly publishing in relevant extension outlets and farm journals, presenting to stakeholder audiences, and maintaining a newsletter with contributions from extension faculty led by the Program Associate.

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Agricultural Economics or a related area of study plus three (3) years of related experience OR a related Master's degree is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer an M.S. in Agricultural Economics or a closely related field. Candidates should be knowledgeable and experienced in the following subject matter areas : farm management, agricultural finance, and agricultural input marketing.

Excellent writing skills and the ability to present financial information to stakeholders is also essential. Familiarity with the basic Microsoft Office suite is required.
