The Role
Vimaan is looking to add a Field Operations Manager to its growing team. The candidate is expected to coordinate field operations for the company, including material procurement, vendor negotiations, BOM and inventory management, shipping and logistics, facility management, engineering support, field operations management (including personnel management, customer facility maintenance and operational budget tracking and management.)
Responsibilities
- Plan for and procure hardware components, sub-systems and other solution elements needed to support customer deployments, SLA maintenance and engineering experiments
- Procurement and inventory management of hardware components including material planning, vendor negotiation, shipping and logistics coordination between vendor, Vimaan and customer sites
- Set, track and adhere to deployment budgets including material, personnel, travel and time; and make sure the appropriate stakeholders are held accountable for expenses that exceed the budget
- Plan for, hire and onboard Field Operators both temp and perm to support customer deployments and engineering experiments
- Follow instructions to perform HW builds and data collection at San Jose laboratory
- Ensure appropriate documentation is in place for system builds, system maintenance, performance tracking and general customer support
- Support special and urgent build requests with a do what it takes attitude including contractor hiring, overtime management and priority conflict management
- Support experimental builds at headquarters
- Take responsibility for maintenance of the headquarters facility including the demo room, IT equipment and infrastructure, warehouse and other logistics
Candidate Profile
- Strong operations background preferably with hardware, software and system builds and deployments
- Experience with material planning and procurement including building planning spreadsheets, vendor negotiation, tracking, logistics and reporting
- Experience with operations documentation, including travelers, process instructions, quality management and tracking
- Experience with personnel management perms, temps and contractors both remotely and on site
- Extraordinarily organized and structured in task definition, management, tracking and reporting
- Track record of rigid adherence to discipline and rigor in instilling and following operational systems, procedures and processes
- Deeply hands-on willing to get your hands dirty and do the job yourself if needed
- Highly sensitive to customer needs both internal and external customers
- Strong expertise and familiarity with developing and managing against operational KPIs, Critical to Quality metrics, cost tracking and continuous improvement
- Strong practitioner of project planning tools with heavy emphasis on developing, tracking and reporting of project status both internally and with customer.
- Strong practitioner of traditional Quality Management tools and Six Sigma processes, including SQC and CAPA processes.
- Full time Work From Office at HQ is a must
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience. Management degree a plus.
- Minimum of 4 years in work experience in a similar role, with demonstrated history of progressively increasing responsibility.
