Dog Walker/Pet Sitter

Hey there! I'm Ken, and my company (kenwalksdogs.com) is seeking part-time Dog Walkers and Overnight Pet Sitters to join our team!

This position is an hourly W2 employee position (NOT a 1099 independent contractor position!) training begins at $15 / hour plus tips, mileage reimbursement, commission, and weekly bonus opportunities.

All employees are eligible for an automatic wage increase after 90 days of employment.

We cater to dogs who need a little "something more" from their daily walks - while you'll drop in on plenty of dogs who only need a quick potty break or stretch during the workday, you'll also participate and assist in various field trips and adventure activities, including :

Swimming lessons and puppy pool parties

Pet store visits for safe indoor walks during inclement weather

Visits to dog-friendly State Parks

Nature hikes on the Barton Creek greenbelt

This job is for someone who :

• UNDERSTANDS other humans, and can communicate comfortably with, and help pet parents feels safe, comfortable, and at ease during each service

Your tasks are assigned to you each day using our own mobile dog walking app - our amazing and loyal customers can schedule a wide variety of services like walks, field trips, adventures, etc - you'll have access to their dog's pickup details and check-in upon arrival.

Mobile check-in with our app allows our customers to receive updates from their dog walker during and after each service, see a map of everywhere their dog walked, and download photos you'll take during their dog's trip.

We optionally offer our dog walking staff additional roles as overnight dog sitters - our company offers overnight care in our staff(s) homes and client home(s).

This position pays a separate hourly rate. Hours worked from both positions are eligible for overtime pay (20 dog walking hours + 40 pet sitting hours 20 hours of overtime)

We've exclusively covered the South-central Austin area since 2018, and slowly expanded into most neighboring zip codes in the greater Austin area in 2022.

Most dogs on your daily calendar will live in the same neighborhood, but sometimes, you may need to drive up to 20 minutes for an appointment.

As an employee, you're still on the clock and paid for all time spent on the road between tasks and when transiting dogs in your care.

We also reimburse mileage expenses each week, with a fluctuating reimbursement rate to offset the cost of abnormally high gas prices!

Basic Requirements for consideration include :

• Pass a background check (criminal and driving record) with flying colors
• Maintain a working, insured vehicle where a dog (or two) might occasionally join you for a ride (we'll provide the doggy seatbelts and seat covers)
• Own a working smartphone with a decent camera capable of taking Instagram-worthy photos of our client's pets
• Have considerable experience working with dogs in any capacity - this might look like fostering dogs in your home, volunteering with Austin Pets Alive, or pet sitting with Rover and Wag.

We maintain workers' compensation insurance and commercial auto coverage for all employees.

This position provides ample room for growth within our company for the right candidate. To date, we've hired all management positions by promoting our staff.

Potential for full-time salaried positions with benefits available within one year of employment!

We're presently seeking a candidate who is :

a) available for overnight dog sitting in their own home or client's home, and

b) generally available for dog walking during for some or all of these hours :

Monday - Friday : 8am-12pm

Monday - Friday : 10am-3pm

Monday - Friday : 12pm-6pm

Saturday - Sunday : 10am-3pm
