Job Overview : Are you a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) ready to make a meaningful impact on students' lives?

Soliant is seeking a compassionate and skilled School SLI to join our team in Chesapeake, Virginia. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting students' academic and personal growth by facilitating effective communication.

Job Description : As a School SLI with Soliant, you will :

  • Provide interpreting services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers in the classroom setting.
  • Support students' understanding of educational material and classroom discussions.
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to create an inclusive learning environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Interpret classroom instruction and activities using American Sign Language (ASL).
  • Assist students in understanding and participating in classroom activities.
  • Support teachers in implementing effective communication strategies.
  • Adapt interpreting methods to meet the needs of individual students.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and performance.

Qualifications :

  • Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI).
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
  • Experience working with children or in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment.
