The Director of Hockey Operations will provide support to the coaching staff. The primary purpose of this position is to provide oversight in all aspects of Notre Dame Hockey Operations.

Duties will be related to the hockey program’s daily operations, technology oversight for the team and staff, and assisting the coaching staff with recruiting, social media, summer camps, and general administrative work.

This includes using technology, statistical coordination, video editing, and direct support for the head coach. It will also provide the coaching staff with a liaison and coordinator of marketing, community service, summer camps, compliance, and recruiting technology.

The position will serve as the contact person between the Compton Family Ice Arena and the Notre Dame Hockey program.

Main Responsibilities Include :

  • Create and maintain an annual operating budget with assistance from the head coach, equipment manager (including student manager budget), and sport administrator.
  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of team travel, including flights, buses, meals, lodging, practice times, and game itineraries.
  • Coordinate with team dietitian for all home meals pre-travel, pre-game, post-game, or any meal involving the team at home.

Coordinate the meal room’s stocking, ordering, and management with the student managers and team dietitian.

  • Coordinate the scheduling of all N.D. practices, visiting team practices, and miscellaneous events with Compton.
  • Liaison within the athletic department for game management meetings, marketing, business office, academic support, and ticket office.
  • Assist administrative assistant with electronic technology (Arms, Rink Net, etc.) by updating information, statistics, pictures, and correspondence.
  • Produce social media infographics as directed by the coaching staff.
  • Work with the coaching staff, SID., and on-campus resources (FIM) to create and expand the digital plan and recruiting materials.
  • Download and edit games for recruiting evaluations (InStat) as requested by the coaching staff.
  • Work with the coaching staff and administrative assistant on planning and executing recruiting visits.
  • Work with the coaching staff and other athletic department entities to coordinate compliance protocol for C.A.R.A. and R.

A.R.A. hours and all events related to the hockey program.

  • Work with Sport Administrator and liaison with the facilities department and Compton for developing and maintaining a master plan for Compton updates for team and fan experience.
  • Summer Camps : Organize and manage the daily operation of our summer hockey camps. Includes securing and scheduling staff, facilities, and necessary equipment.

Assist the coaching staff in overseeing day-to-day operations of the hockey camp, logistics, staff and councilor assignments, camper orientation, and preparation of equipment and facilities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (4 years)
  • A minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of experience with team operations is required
  • Must demonstrate an understanding of the NCAA Compliance rules.
  • Must have high interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Must have strong communication skills in working with the coaching staff and program partners.
  • Knowledge and ability to use but not limited to Arms, Adobe, RinkNet, InStat, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must work well in work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and time-sensitive demands.
  • Ability to travel and work nights, weekends, and holidays as required by events.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five (5) or more years of experience.
  • Previous experience in a sports team operations role with a college or professional team
  • College or professional playing experience
