Job Summary :

Under general direction, performs testing on a variety of Lighting products to applicable standards and test methods; assembles test samples and makes modifications to set-ups;

provides ongoing feedback regarding suggested modifications to apparatus and / or equipment being tested; plus other lab activities and assignments as required.

Responsibilities :

• Conducts a wide range of test procedures on equipment to the applicable standards and interprets the results of the test.
• Performs tests and calculations, compiles data and summarizes test results into test reports and checklists. Verifies calculations are consistent with results of measurements.
• Assembles and disassembles test samples, hooks-up laboratory test equipment in preparation for testing, and operates most laboratory test equipment without supervision.
• Maintains good housekeeping of tools, equipment and work area following tests and carries out assigned laboratory clean-up duties.
• Notes and records discrepancies or characteristics of products which may appear before or during the tests and refer them to Sr.

Lab Tech, Project Engineer or Manager.

Tests to the Project Engineer's requests and provides general and specific information about the testing process or status of a work order to assist the Project Engineer and improve overall customer service and satisfaction.

Education and Experience :

• Technical Certificate or equivalent education and experience
• Associates degree in Engineering Technology OR
• 1-5 years of related experience
• Experience in operating, maintaining, and calibrating test equipment.
• Working knowledge of test methods for lighting performance preferred.
• Working knowledge of Energy Efficiency Verification programs requirements for Lighting Products preferred.

• Excel at research, problem-solving and project management.
• Ability to review, understand, and convey technical information in an effective manner.
• Needs to be knowledgeable of safe practices; ability to move equipment around with assistance or independently; follow safety practices;
• Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to teach others, and work independently and as a team player.
• Excellent and effective time and project management skills in order to efficiently handle a variety and multiple project requests in order to meet timelines for completion, and on-time delivery.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact effectively and efficiently with internal customers as well as well as external.
• Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Suite), as required, learn and be proficient in any test equipment-based software.

T he typical hiring range for this position is $66, 000 - $100,000; however, based on a variety of considerations (such as education, licenses, certifications and / or, experience,) CSA Group reserves the right to flexibility outside of the stated range.
