The University of Miami Department of Radiology has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Chief MRI Technologist to work at Applebaum MRI Center in Miami.

The incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day operations and administrative duties ensuring efficient workflow of the section, compliance with budgetary policy, ensuring the highest quality diagnostic examinations, and compliance with State / Federal / Joint Commission regulations, department / hospital policies and procedures, objectives, and philosophy.

The Chief is accountable for efficient patient throughput and has 24-hr supervisory responsibility of the department and all departmental staff members’ scheduling, technical guidance, and performance improvement.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Performs all duties of Level I & II technologist.
  • Supervises imaging services, including performance or supervision of tests, and daily management of assigned personnel.
  • Assists in compilation of statistical data for departmental evaluation purposes.
  • Contributes to the preparation of the annual departmental budget and development of administrative and operational policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Responsible for hire, discipline, and promotion of department staff.
  • Obtains and examines the diagnostic orders for appropriateness to the type of exam ordered and any special notes or comments.
  • Coordinates / manages scheduling and patient flow for interdepartmental procedures.
  • Collaborates in the development of in-service training for departmental staff.
  • Completes yearly performance appraisals for the staff and handles requests for merit increases, promotions, and disciplinary actions.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education : High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technology / Diagnostic Imaging Program.

Certification and Licensing : Must possess a valid State of Florida License as a General Radiographer. ARRT registered with ARRT certification in primary modality required.

CPR and BLS certification required.

Experience : Minimum 5 years of relevant experience. Supervisory experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes :

  • Knowledge of business and management principles.
  • Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
  • Ability to establish department goals and objectives that support the strategic plan.
  • Ability to effectively plan, delegate, and / or supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.
