RETS Associates on behalf of its Client, a dynamic and rapidly growing commercial real estate investment and development firm focused on industrial product, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Controller to join the team and help drive their continued success in Los Angeles, CA .
As the Senior Controller, you will play a pivotal role in managing the financial operations of the real estate portfolio.
You will be responsible for overseeing accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance activities.
Key Responsibilities :
- Financial Reporting : Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, for multiple commercial properties.
- Budgeting and Forecasting : Develop and manage annual property budgets and forecasts, working closely with property management teams to ensure alignment with financial goals.
- Cash Management : Monitor and manage cash flow for real estate operations, including rent collections, disbursements, and reserve accounts.
- Property Accounting : Oversee property accounting functions, including lease administration, rent escalations, and property-level accounting entries.
- Compliance : Ensure compliance with industry-specific accounting standards (e.g., FASB ASC 842 for lease accounting) and regulatory requirements.
- Tax Management : Collaborate with external tax professionals to optimize tax strategies and compliance for real estate investments.
- Financial Analysis : Perform in-depth financial analysis, evaluate investment opportunities, and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Risk Management : Identify, assess, and manage financial risks associated with real estate investments and operations.
- Team Leadership : Supervise and mentor accounting and finance staff, fostering a culture of excellence and growth within the department.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation is highly desirable.
- Big 4 experience preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with a significant focus on commercial real estate.
- Strong knowledge of real estate accounting principles, regulations, and standards.
- Proficiency in property management software (e.g., Yardi, MRI) and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.
- High ethical standards and integrity.
- Hybrid schedule : 3-4 days in the office.
Compensation : $200K+ , 401K, excellent benefits.
