Contract Role- HRIS & Payroll Analyst *

Surge Energy is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced HRIS Analyst to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to manage and maintain our HRIS system (UKG), process payroll, ensure payroll accuracy, and provide data-driven reporting and insights.

Key Responsibilities :

HRIS (UKG) Management :

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all UKG HRIS-related inquiries and support.
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of employee data in UKG.

Payroll Processing :

  • Accurately process payroll on a bi-weekly / monthly basis for all employees using UKG.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and company policies.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to ensure timely and accurate payroll reporting.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices.

Data Reporting and Analytics (using BI and Excel) :

  • Generate and analyze HR and payroll reports, including headcount, turnover, compensation, and other key metrics.
  • Provide data-driven insights to HR leadership for workforce planning and decision-making.
  • Assist in developing and delivering custom reports for various departments as needed.
  • Support annual budget and forecasting processes by providing accurate payroll and headcount data.

Compliance and Audits :

  • Ensure HRIS and payroll processes comply with internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and reports.
  • Stay updated on relevant HR and payroll legislation and ensure the organization adheres to legal requirements.

Qualifications : Education :

Education :

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or combination of related experience.

Experience :

  • At least 3 years of experience in HRIS and payroll processing, preferably in the Oil and Gas industry.
  • Hands-on experience with UKG (formerly UltiPro) is required.
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.

Skills :

  • Proficiency in HRIS systems (UKG) and payroll software.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot system and payroll issues.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Benefits Administration experience preferred.
