Patient Care Technician / Nursing P9 - Surgical Urology & Orthopedics

The Patient Care Technician position on the Surgical Urology / Orthopedic unit at MD Anderson Cancer Center provides patient care services as assigned by a registered nurse, and directly impacts patient comfort and outcome of care.

Ideal candidate must have a high school diploma and either one year of recent experience in an acute care setting as a Nursing Assistant or a CNA certification.

The schedule will be two 12 hour shifts and two 8 hour shifts each week. The shifts will be 7am-7pm, 7am-3pm, and 3pm-11pm, with rotating weekends and holidays required.

The Surgical Urology / Orthopaedic unit is a 32 bed unit for an adult patient population. This fast-paced environment has rapid turnover for surgical procedures.

The team uses an interdisciplinary collaborative approach to patient care. Integrated in our nursing practice are tools used to maximize the skills of team members to achieve optimal outcome and improved healthcare quality.

Hourly breakdown of salary range :

Minimum $17.55 - Midpoint $21.88 - Maximum $26.20

Essential Job Functions :

Acts as member of a multidisciplinary team that identifies and addresses patient care needs. Assists in completion of activities of daily living, mobilization, admit / discharge and obtaining vital signs.

Updates and retrieves patient information. Ensures patient environment is maintained in a clean, safe and orderly manner.

Acts as part of an assigned care team.

EDUCATION :

Required : High school diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE :

Preferred : One year of recent experience in an acute care setting as a Nursing Assistant.

LICENSE / CERTIFICATION :

Preferred : Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) would be a plus.

OTHER :

Required : Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
