POSITION PURPOSE :

Maintain control over revenues, expenses, assets and liabilities of the Complex Properties at Easton

Residence Inn by Marriott, Courtyard by Marriott, Aloft and Hilton Columbus ensuring that all financial record keeping and reporting functions are accomplished in accordance with company policies, procedures, and requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Maintaining control over the record keeping functions of the limited service properties (Residence Inn, Courtyard and Aloft) and ensuring accuracy and guidance for the full service property (Hilton Columbus).
  • Reconciliation and analysis of all general ledger account balances.
  • Preparation of information to be posted to subsidiary and general ledgers.
  • Coordinating monthly journal entry preparation and general ledger closing.
  • Ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, internal policies and procedures.
  • Preparing monthly financial reports in accordance with reporting calendars and ensuring the accuracy and timely submission of these reports.

  • Balance Sheet
  • Assist corporate accounting staff as needed
  • In preparation of all required tax reports including city, county, state, and federal.
  • Cash Journal recording and Fixed Asset review.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS :

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the Regional Director of Finance, Area Managing Director, Easton Hotels, Complex General Manager based upon the particular requirements of the Hotels.

OTHER :

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by the hotel from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.

Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.

Upon employment, all team members are required to fully comply with hotel rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities.

Team Members who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Ability to analyze large volume of complex financial transactions from many sources and create reports and forecast projections for management.
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge of federal and state tax regulations to practical situations within the hospitality industry.
  • Understanding of complex computerized financial systems and the ability to utilize systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel software.
  • Ability to concentrate in high volume high pressure area.
  • Visual ability to read manufacturer's instructions, correspondence, etc.
  • Ability to write and speak English, to comprehend and communicate instructions to both the hotel and its clients.
  • Ability to grasp, lift, and carry or otherwise move goods weighing a minimum of 25 lbs.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, and kneeling.
  • Ability to remain calm in emergency situations and to effectively deal with internal and external guests, some of whom require patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information, and solve guest concerns.
  • Technical knowledge of industry accepted accounting principles and internal controls.
  • Ability to work in a 365 day environment and be on call 24 hours.
  • Knowledge of Blackline, Yardi Payable Systems and Profit Sword P3.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS :

Education : College degree in accounting or finance or any other combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Four year college degree preferred.

Experience : Minimum of five years' experience in a position of accounting responsibility. Preferably with hotel property. GAAP Experience Required

Other : Additional language ability preferred.

Grooming : All team members must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance (Specific standards available in Olshan Properties Team Member Handbook).
