The Member Lending Specialist originates loans for credit union members. The Lending Specialist builds and fosters profitable financial relationships with credit union members and potential members.
The Lending Specialist provides outstanding service while promoting and recommending appropriate credit union products. The Lending Specialist gathers and analyzes member data to offer customized solutions.
The Lending Specialist maintains a primary focus on improving overall financial well-being of member-owners while consistently meeting or exceeding minimum performance and service standards.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
Assists members with submission of credit card and unsecured loan applications. Interviews loan applicants. Describes application review process and provides recommendations.
Discusses key aspects of financing (e.g., rates, terms, payment amounts).
Provides information on insurance programs (e.g., GAP, MBI, Credit Life and Disability), loan coverage options, and other ancillary products.
Assists customers in submitting applications for memberships and additional deposit products. Reviews membership applications and consumer information from various reporting agencies.
Completes account opening.
Uses credit scoring, sound lending practices and judgment to make lending recommendations.
Funds consumer loans in accordance with credit union guidelines. Explores other lending alternatives with members, as appropriate.
Discusses adverse action reasons with members in case of loan or account denial and counsels them on opportunities to improve future eligibility.
Deepens member relationships and supports achievement of department’s sales goals by recommending appropriate products and services.
Completes all required training to maintain compliance with all job-related laws, regulatory requirements, and procedures.
Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulatory requirements, and procedures.
Participates in testing and review of new credit union processes and procedures. Participates in assigned professional development programs in support of the credit union’s commitment to increases sales, service, quality, and teamwork.

Minimum Education : High school or equivalentMinimum Experience : 2 yearsMinimum Field of Expertise : Previous experience in sales, retail or financial institutions (operating in a sales-driven environment) with proven track record of meeting production / sales goals.
Must possess a minimum of one year consumer underwriting experience. Must be familiar with Word, Excel and Outlook. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills.
Has effective organizational skills. Utilizes effective sales techniques with limited supervision. Able to consistently meet or exceed established performance goals in a financial services environment.
