Histology Laboratory Assistant
Job Description
JOB SUMMARY :
The person in this position is a hospital based Lab Assistant I who accurately performs various functions in the histology lab.
They will "float" between two Prisma Hospitals in Columbia SC - spending 3 days in one location and 2 at the other
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Triage cases that arrive in department from OR
- Assist PAs / Pathology with processes related to special tests
- Accession tissue specimens into EPIC and set up for processing
- Attend some radfiology dept procedures (CT?US) - assist with slide preparation
- File slides.
- Perform lab cleaning and equipment maintenance.
- Exercise all laboratory safety precautions and adhere to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals.
- Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the industry's best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information and other sensitive company data.
- Must be familiar with and abide by the Corporate Compliance Program and all Corporate policies, including the Privacy and Security policies.
Requirements
EDUCATION LICENSURE :
High School Diploma or GED is required.
REQUIREMENTS :
- Minimum of one year of previous health care environment job-related experience is preferred.
