About the Job

General Statement of Responsibilities :

The Radiology Supervisor oversees the operational, administrative and personnel activities at Boynton Health and satellite clinic at Minneapolis College.

Responsible for determining and maintaining radiology imaging standards, radiological safety and department's QI program.

Responsible for medical equipment maintenance and service. Identifies patterns of equipment breakdowns and recommends replacement timetables and new equipment specifications.

Plans and directs the ordering, receipt storage and maintenance of departmental supplies. Responsible for the selection, training, evaluation, supervision, and discipline of all departmental staff.

Schedules and assigns the work of radiology staff. Functions as a radiographer to maintain technical expertise and workflow.

The Radiology Supervisor reports to the Associate Director of Operations-Primary Care at Boynton Health.

Salary range : $80K - $92K depending on qualifications.

Detailed Job Responsibilities :

Supervisory :

  • Assign, direct and schedule day-to-day work of Radiology staff at Boynton Health and Minneapolis College diagnostic imaging departments
  • Supervise staff in compliance with University Policies and Procedures to include; recruitment, interview, hiring / firing, performance evaluations, initiate and conduct disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Orient and train new employees on departmental policies and procedures and the proper use of diagnostic imaging equipment.

Provide technical assistance, instruction and consultation to staff.

  • Monitor and evaluate the quality and quantity of employee work.
  • Develop and implement performance improvement initiatives.
  • Formulate and revise technique charts to maintain established standards of radiographic contrast and density.
  • Communicates effectively with Radiology staff, physicians, mid-level providers and other departments. Acts as liaison for the Medical Director.
  • Act as chief liaison with clinic's contracted Radiologists' vendor for interpretive services facilitating peer review process and associated feedback to clinic.
  • Attend and participate in weekly operations meeting with Boynton Leadership team.
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings to provide appropriate communication with staff regarding departmental operations, provide in-service training as well as clinic-wide operations.
  • Review, investigate and follow-up, including corrective action when necessary any complaints and / or concerns from patients, providers, or other Boynton staff.
  • Formulate and revise Departmental Policies and Procedures.
  • Verify the accuracy of radiological result reports and request addendums from Interpretive Radiologist if necessary.
  • Maintain detailed records of patient's radiological exam history.
  • Promote a safe, equitable, and respectful environment in which concerns can be addressed effectively.

Perform Radiological Examinations :

  • Perform a variety of tasks involved in operating x-ray equipment to obtain radiographs of designated body parts.
  • Adjust equipment for proper radiographic exposure techniques in accordance with radiation safety guidelines and following principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonable Achievable).
  • Explain x-ray procedures to patients
  • Position patients for each anatomical view using immobilization and protective equipment as necessary.
  • Accurately process images for optimal quality. Match with appropriate orders for interpretation.
  • Submit radiographic procedures for billing in EMR.
  • Demonstrate acceptable film quality standards by critiquing positioning, technical factors and collimation.
  • Schedule patients for complex radiological exams done at outside facilities.
  • Maintain clean radiographic rooms and clean radiographic imaging plates.

Operational :

  • Functions as CR / PACS, EMR super user, providing instruction and assistance to staff
  • Ensures inventory for diagnostic procedures is aligned with demand for services.
  • Ensures accuracy of CPT coding for diagnostic procedures for billing purposes.
  • Establishes / maintains all Quality Control, completes all appropriate documentation and accreditation activities as outlined in Minnesota Department of Health- Chapter 4732 and AAAHC (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care)- Chapter 13.
  • Schedules all repairs of diagnostic imaging equipment. Schedules Radiation surveys and preventative maintenance in compliance with federal, state and AAAHC agencies.
  • Research equipment and service needs with vendors for selection of new products and / or equipment. Recommends and / or participates in selection of new medical and non-medical equipment for department.
  • Provide input on development of capital and operational budget.
  • Act as liaison to outside vendors and in house IT department for troubleshooting interface issues and computer system maintenance.
  • Promote a safe, equitable, and respectful environment in which concerns can be addressed effectively.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications :

  • BA / BS plus four years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to total eight years.
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic technology school.
  • Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Five years of diagnostic radiology experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting a culture that respects and advances diversity and inclusion.
