JOB SUMMARY
The Surgical Nurse Assistant assists physicians during surgery within their scope of practice. This role involves a range of surgical procedures on patients of all ages and modalities including robotics.
The Assistant must be familiar with draping, suturing, clamping, and exposure of the surgical field. They also locate and document medical and nursing patient care information, utilizing appropriate interview techniques to obtain history.
The Assistant must identify standards of care common to patient population and deliver patient care using problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Additionally, the candidate must be able to administer medication safely and accurately, evaluate outcomes of care to determine if patient needs were met, and complete care assignments in a reasonable amount of time.
The role may also include taking on-call requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of an accredited program of professional nursing
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensed in the State of Florida
- Minimum 2 years in perioperative nursing, which includes demonstrated proficiency in perioperative nursing practice as both a scrub and circulating nurse
- Successful completion of a Surgical Nurse Assistant course approved by a Florida Board of Nursing provider
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- Intermediate computer knowledge : Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows
