OVERVIEW :

The HR Generalist is a creative problem solver with the ability to develop strong partnerships and collaborative relationships with employees and business leaders.

In this role, you will provide operational and consultative support to managers and their teams, enabling them to confidently lead their teams in alignment with Fortis values, policies and practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES :

  • Establishes oneself as a high-visible and trustworthy member of the Fortis team in our Plano office, collaborating with business leaders and employees to build a positive, enabling, and productive culture for our Plano teammates.
  • Collaborates with the broader HR team to design and implement talent, total rewards, and organizational effectiveness programs that enable business and personal success.
  • Partners with the business on finding great talent to join the team leading the recruiting process in Plano, including screening, interviewing, coordinating pre-employment screenings, and participating in recruitment activities.
  • Works to ensure a positive and visible talent brand in the Plano market, enabling us to attract and retain great talent.
  • Ensures all company HR related policies are consistently and fairly applied.
  • Coach managers on employee relations issues, providing guidance on conversations with employees, the employee relations process, and potential legal issues.
  • Supports managers in solving people related business challenges by understanding local issues, considering possible alternatives, and taking action quickly and efficiently.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of Human Resource policies and procedures and their dissemination through employee handbooks, communications, and / or meetings.
  • Attends department meetings to increase HR visibility.
  • Assists with maintaining all necessary employment records and files including personnel, I-9, medical, leave of absence, recruiting and training for compliance with company and external agency guidelines.
  • Facilitates new employee orientation and onboarding, ensuring that new team members have a great initial experience with Fortis and are equipped to make a positive impact.

REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES :

  • PC literacy with strong competency in all Microsoft Office Suite programs
  • Possess problem solving skills
  • Possess the ability to be accurate with data entry
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field
  • Experience : Minimum of five years of HR experience in a business-related environment
  • Knowledge : SHRM or SPHR certification preferred. Paylocity knowledge a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Working Conditions : This is an on-site office position. Call Center / Office environment.
  • Physical Activities : Occasional standing, stooping, reaching and lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Physical Demands : Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, typing on a computer keyboard, and speaking on the telephone.
