Compensation highly depends on experience and education. Applicants with more substantial experience should expect higher compensation.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities :

  • Conduct geotechnical field investigations and analyze failures involving soils, foundations, and construction-related problems on commercial, residential, and industrial properties
  • Determine the cause, origin, and extent of failures and losses relating to soil-related issues, landslides / slope failures, retaining walls, shallow, intermediate and deep foundation systems, earthwork grading, and stormwater runoff
  • Conduct unbiased investigations for various types of clients
  • Responsible for retention and development of client relations
  • Prepare oral and written reports in laymen's terms that document causes of failure, and extent of loss
  • Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships and promote self to client groups
  • Ability to support conclusions by appropriate expert testimony in legal proceedings
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications;

establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies

Position Requirements :

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering with a geotechnical focus, Masters Degree preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of post-academic geotechnical engineer experience
  • P. E. (Professional Engineer) registration required through testing
  • Must possess demonstrable strong writing skills
  • Public speaking experience a plus
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to travel 25% of the time
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to maneuver in and around buildings and in confined spaces
  • Ability to drive to site locations, at times at unpredictable hours and travel via plane
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required by the work site
