OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST
Under general supervision, plans, organizes and conducts a variety of medically necessary sensorimotor, educational, recreational, social, and treatment modality activities designed to help participants regain physical or mental functioning or adjust to their disabilities.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Works with other inter-disciplinary team members to coordinate rehabilitative services for PACE participants.
- Devises a treatment program in accordance with the objectives of the plan of care after evaluating the participant.
- Teaches participant skills and techniques required for participation in treatment and program activities.
- Documents all care given to participants and submits to medical records in a timely manner.
- Maintains clinical records, statistics, Data PACE, and related forms timely and accurately.
- May direct the activities of Occupational Therapy Assistants, Rehabilitation Technician, students and other Rehabilitation Personnel.
- Actively participates in professional organizations and in-service education programs by leading discussion and presenting reports.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Must complete initial and periodic assessments including home and facility assessment as needed.
- Must communicate participant changes to team members, and document in plan of care.
- Assist with coordination of 24 hour care delivery.
- Must complete assessments prior to care conference with participant.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
- A professional level of knowledge in Occupational Therapy, which is obtained in baccalaureate or higher degree program, accredited by the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association.
- Must be legally authorized to practice in Michigan. Shall provide a valid License / Certification from The National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy and a valid Occupational Therapy registration certificate from the state of Michigan.
Will act only within the scope of his / her authority to practice).
- The job requires certain physical abilities in order to lift and position participants and to perform treatment modalities.
- A high level of interpersonal skill is required in order to effectively interface with participants, caregivers, and team members.
- One year experience working with a frail or elderly population.
- Two years appropriate experience as an occupational therapist.
