Internship Title - Power System Engineer

Department - Power System Model Management- Model Administration and Support

Minimum Education level : Senior

Preferred Majors : Power Systems Engineering, EE, Computer Engineering, Computer Science

Department Description :

The Power System Model Management Department is tasked with design, testing and implementation of power system model changes with focus on power system applications, including power flow, dynamics, contingency analysis, and markets support.

What will you be working on :

In this internship, you will assist the Model Administration and Support team with data handling, updating the New England network model, creating planning study cases for Transmission Owners, updating generation profiles by collating data from various sources, reviewing, and maintaining contingencies, project data, load profiles and resource data.

Work assignments include :

Maintaining data in the Model On Demand application and the Basecase Database.

Assisting MAS Engineers with data-intensive tasks related to steady state and stability cases.

Performing review of modeling data received to correct gross data, syntax, and convention errors.

Through assigned projects, you will get exposure to work on real-life projects at the ISO and you will benefit from the knowledge of how different applications, systems and groups interact at the ISO to meet our mission.

What we look for in a candidate :

Electrical Engineering student with a Power Systems concentration

Graduate student preferred, but will consider a rising senior with other requirements met

PSS / E experience preferred

Excellent analytical and creative problem solving skills

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

Ability to work independently and in a small team environment

To be eligible for the internship candidate must have completed at least the first year of college and be currently enrolled in a four year or graduate-level academic program.

Candidates must have the authority to work in the US on a permanent basis, without requiring sponsorship.
