The primary goal of the Radiology Nurse is to provide quality nursing care to the patient in the Department of Radiology, both in the pediatric and adult age group.
They monitor and assess patients, ensuring the provision of safe and effective care. Skills utilized in his / her job performance include assessment, communication, teaching, leadership and management.
The nurse insures patient privacy, dignity and safety.
The job duties of the diagnostic and interventional radiology nurse include (but are not limited to) : Preparing patients for procedures, providing education to the patient and family members, Inserting and removing intravenous lines, administering conscious sedation drugs and other medications, monitoring patient patterns and vital signs during procedures, overseeing the safety and comfort of patients before, during, and after procedures, and providing post-procedure monitoring.
The major area of responsibility is the Special Procedures Laboratory, but the nurse may also function in the following areas : general diagnostics, ultrasound, computerized tomography, and nuclear medicine.
PICC line insertion certification and competency is required for this position.
Requirements :
1. Current CA RN license
2. Current Healthcare provider CPR certificate; Current ACLS, Current PALS, TNCC highly desirable
3. At least 1 year previous experience in a critical care setting required. Special procedures experience highly desirable.
4. PICC certification highly desirable
