The Ansonia Public Schools School Readiness Pre-K Program is a NAEYC Accredited site that is seeking a Full-Time Co-Lead Teacher.

JOB DESCRIPTION
TEACHER
Education and Experience : Early Childhood Degree or higher, Other Degree plus twelve Early Childhood credits
Accountability : Ansonia Public Schools Pre-Kindergarten Site Supervisor
Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, the following :
- Responsible to the Site Supervisor : responsible for conducting the program in the classrooms in accordance with the policies and philosophy established by Ansonia Public Schools and the Ansonia School Readiness Grant Program Council, informing the site manager / director the needs of the children / parents / classroom staff, suggesting improvements and discussing problems.
- Supervision of Staff : responsible for participating in the interviewing of aides and assistant teachers and in the assignment of classroom staff responsibilities, sharing information with the classroom staff, meeting frequently with classroom staff (individually and as a group) to discuss plans and problems and participation in the evaluation of their classroom staff members.
- Development and Implementation of the Daily Program : responsible for organizing all aspects of the daily program (daily schedule, classroom atmosphere, behavior management plan), preparing materials, organizing developmentally appropriate activities, establishing goals for the program and evaluating the program.
- Primary Responsibility for Children : responsible for the welfare of the children who are in the care of their classroom, gearing the program / curriculum to the needs of individual children, with concern for their interests, challenges, special talents, and individual styles and paces of learning, considering individual children in relationship to their cultural and socioeconomic background, treating children with dignity and respect, helping children become aware of their roles as integral members of a group, supervising the children according the Indoor and Outdoor Supervision Policies located in the Policy and Procedure Handbook, implementing the ongoing evaluation procedures needed to assess the developmental levels of the children, and formally assessing and providing the family with information about their child’s development either verbally or written at least 4X per year.
Send home written reports about their child’s development 2X per year.Maintain an adult-to-child ratio of 1 : 10 or better at all times.
- Responsible for Health and Safety Decisions within the Classroom : responsible for maintaining healthy and safe classroom practices, using universal precautions, maintaining First Aid, CPR, Administration of Medication and Epi-pen certifications and preparing for responding to emergency situations.
- Maintenance of Facilities and Equipment : responsible for seeing that the classroom is in order and that equipment is clean and in good condition, notifying the site manager / director of equipment / supplies needed to carry on the daily program.
- Maintenance of Records and Reports : responsible for maintaining lists of needed supplies, classroom attendance and daily plans, contributing to children’s personal files, creating and maintaining portfolios / assessments for each child in the classroom.
- Interpreting the Program to Parents / Guardians : responsible for working with the site manager / director to interpret the program to classroom parents, sharing responsibility with the site manager / director for giving parents information about their children, keeping parents informed about the program calendar and special events, conducting parent / caregiver home visits and conferences, planning and implementing methods of establishing a positive liaison with children’s parents and caregivers.
- Professional Growth : responsible for participating in staff meetings, participating in all required trainings (First Aid, CPR, Administration of Medication, Epi-pen, OSHA, Nutrition, Serving Children with Disabilities, Pre-Literacy, Diversity, Curriculum and Assessment, Ethical Conduct, 2 choices of Early Childhood Education topics) and recommended training programs, courses, and conferences, learning and following ECERS, NAEYC and School Readiness policies / guidelines.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
