As an HFC Engineer on the Telecommunications team you will be responsible for designing and optimizing Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial (HFC) networks to deliver high-speed broadband services.

This role involves :

  • Creating network architectures, ensuring the efficient integration of fiber and coaxial components to meet performance and reliability standards.
  • Sizing of serving boundaries using GIS address data; analyze, interpret, and organize large datasets.
  • Determine feeder routes, distribution routes, and drops to premises by utilizing parcel, ROW, and easement documentation.
  • Determine fiber and coax component allocations.
  • Reviewing field staking sheets, as-builts, and field collected data to determine the optimal running line and construction method.
  • Analyze aerial imagery and general maps to identify existing utilities or potential obstructions; and produce and review high-quality constructible plan sets using GIS-based software.

The HFC Engineer will work closely with engineering teams, project managers, and field engineers to support the deployment and enhancement of HFC networks.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Ability to read, interpret, create maps and plan sets.
  • Ability to edit and create PDF documents (Bluebeam or Adobe skills).
  • Associate’s / bachelor’s degree in engineering / design or equivalent work experience.
  • General knowledge in OSP construction methods and best practices.
  • 3-6 years of Coax / HFC design experience.
  • General knowledge of HFC, DOCSIS, and FTTx networks is required.
  • Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS Software products is preferred.

Typical salary range for this position is $55,000 - $72,000, and is commensurate with experience relative to the position.
