Edda - Expanded Duties Dental Assistant

Compensation : $25 - $30 hourly

Responsibilities :

• Ensuring the comfort of patients throughout dental procedures
• Setting up operatories for treatments
• Sterilizing dental instruments thoroughly
• Providing direct assistance to the dentist utilizing the four-handed dentistry technique
• Performing x-rays and intraoral photography
• Creating precise and effective treatment plans based on the dentist's diagnosis
• Managing the scheduling of patients efficiently
• Offering patient education and clear post-operative instructions
• Recording dental charts accurately and assigning appropriate codes
• Upholding strict adherence to infection control protocols
• Conducting laboratory duties including model pouring, impression taking, and temporary crown fabrication
• Handling administrative tasks like answering calls, contacting labs, and following up with patients
• Keeping supplies stocked and equipment maintained
• Documenting and managing Patient Health Information accurately
• Collaborating effectively with other team members
• Ordering necessary supplies and managing budgets accordingly
• Placing temporary and permanent restorations in teeth and shaping them to proper contour
• Removing sutures and placing rubber dams as instructed by the dentist
• Taking final impressions with precision
• Monitoring the use of nitrous oxide during procedures

Qualifications :

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required for this EDDA position in Colorado Springs, CO, US.
• CPR / BLS certification is a mandatory qualification.
• Completion of an accredited dental assisting program is preferred.
• EDDA Certification is required, with a minimum of one year experience without certification accepted.
• Radiology Certification is a necessary qualification.
• Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and instruments is expected.
• Proficiency in dental patient management software like Open Dental or Dentrix is essential.
• Understanding of prosthodontics for restorations is required.
• Experience working with Clear Aligners, such as Invisalign, is considered a plus.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills are vital for this role.
• Ability to multitask efficiently is a key requirement.
• Attention to detail is a crucial skill needed for this EDDA position.
