JOB SUMMARY
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Prepares and performs echocardiographic and vascular examinations on patients and collaborates with physicians on examinations.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
- Finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, sitting, standing.
- Continuous : reaching at or below shoulder level, repetitive arm / hand motion, static gripping of object for prolonged. .
- Frequent : stooping / bending, pushing / pulling maximum weight of 20 pounds of force.
- Occasional : kneeling, climbing stairs, squatting, lifting and carrying weight of 10 pounds up to 20 pounds.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS :
- Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
- Subjected to inside environmental condition (i.e., low light setting).
- Exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids.
- Must be able to adjust schedule for on-call coverage involving, but not limited to, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
A. EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE :
- Board registered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), or by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS).
- Current BLS certification.
- ACLS certification desired.
EXPERIENCE :
- Prior recent experience as a cardiac and / or vascular sonographer in an acute health care facility preferred.
- Ability to use critical thinking skills to solve problems and make decisions.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments / projects and respond to numerous requests and work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team.
