We are seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer specializing in Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering to support the facility.
This position is responsible for managing and implementing facility capital and major repair projects, providing technical support, and contributing power systems expertise within the Utilities Department.
Lead Electrical Engineer Key Responsibilities :
- Promote and uphold safety and environmental initiatives across the facility.
- Conduct front-end studies on potential high-impact capital projects.
- Develop and adjust dynamic capital and major repair plans based on facility needs.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Maintenance teams to execute capital and major repair projects, focusing on safety, environmental impact, quality, cost, and schedule.
- Oversee multiple projects from concept to completion, including estimating, design, safety reviews, and installation.
- Provide expertise in power systems, including design, troubleshooting, and support for turbine generators, excitation systems, high-voltage distribution, relay protection, transmission line maintenance, programmable logic controllers, and process control systems.
- Assist in troubleshooting technical issues within the facility.
- Oversee external contractors to ensure compliance with safety, code, and technical standards.
- Work with Legal and Purchasing on high-cost equipment and labor contracts.
- Support Finance in tax, capital vs. expense decisions, and financial justifications.
- Maintain capital asset and engineering documentation.
- Mentor junior engineers, interns, and co-op students.
- Ensure compliance with codes and standards in all maintenance and engineering efforts.
- Lead or participate in cross-functional teams as needed.
Lead Electrical Engineer Requirements :
- 10+ years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in pulp and paper, power generation, or heavy industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution. A P.E.
license and / or PMP certification is a plus.
- Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
