Job Description and Duties

Under the direct supervision of a sergeant, the duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following : overall upkeep and routine maintenance and repairs of buildings and structures, and surrounding grounds, transport State vehicles, keep Facility clear of hazardous conditions, touch-up painting as needed, sweep / clean sidewalks and parking areas, replace inoperative indoor / outdoor light bulbs, sanitize restrooms / locker rooms;

clean and disinfect kitchen surfaces, and counters; maintain and order janitorial stock / supplies, oversee contractors and vendors while on-site, move furniture and equipment as needed, storing boxes of supplies, organizing storage of equipment and resources.

Assist with fleet maintenance, cleaning and repair, delivering motor vehicles to service stations and Area offices as necessary, assist in janitorial duties and perform full custodial duties in the absence of a custodian.

Working Conditions

The facility is operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The position involves heavy lifting and carrying of items up to 50 pounds.

Exposed to varying temperatures and loud noises. The working hours for this position are Monday through Friday, from 0600 to 1430 hours.

Special Requirements

The position(s) require(s) a valid California Drivers License (CDL). You must answer the questions addressing your CDL on your application.

  • The position(s) require(s) Medical Clearance prior to being hired.

The CHP utilizes their own Maintenance Worker certification list. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for the Maintenance Worker classification to be eligible to take the examination.
