WAREHOUSE ASSOCIATE

OBJECTIVES

To maintain the warehouse in such a manner as to ensure easy accessibility of materials and supplies, eliminate hazards, and meet OSHA and other requirements.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to : Warehouse Supervisor

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assembles materials required for construction work orders to be built from staking sheets. Maintains inventory levels and advises Warehouse Supervisor when additional material is needed.
• Ensures that all materials issued or received to stock are accounted for by physical inspection as compared to appropriate documentation.
• Performs periodic inventory of materials and supplies and reports results to Warehouse Supervisor.
• Prepares necessary charge reports of materials sold.
• Stocks shelves with material and equipment.
• Ensures necessary forms for incoming freight are forwarded to Warehouse Supervisor.
• Checks freight for damage and obtains necessary information for preparation of claims.
• Assists in maintenance of warehouse and stores in accordance with OSHA requirements.
• Maintains the warehouse area by performing necessary cleaning and storage activities at headquarters and district offices.
• Inspects damaged transformers for oil leaks. Pumps oil from transformer if leak is detected.
• Performs calibration on confined space monitoring equipment monthly.
• Performs routine trailer inspections and reports any necessary repairs to the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor.
• Transports material to all offices and crews in the field as needed.
• Performs routine building maintenance such as lighting, painting, etc. at Buck Jenkins Service Center.
• Identifies and protects oil spills or environmental hazards and reports to Warehouse Supervisor.
• Works according to safety rules and practices adopted by Warren RECC, responsible for own safety, and reports all accidents to supervisor.
• Complies with traffic laws, regulations, and safe practices while operating any company vehicle.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

POSITION Warehouse Associate

EDUCATION

High school graduate or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE

Two years of experience in a warehousing position preferred. A basic knowledge of utility construction desirable.

KNOWLEDGE

Must have a basic knowledge of general warehouse procedures. Must be able to acquire a working knowledge of RUS Construction Specifications and of units and materials used in Cooperative operations.

Must maintain CPR and first aid certification. Should be willing to attend courses relating to area of work. A knowledge of Microsoft Office products desired.

ABILITIES AND SKILLS

Must have basic understanding of personal computers. Must be able to read and interpret system maps. Must be able to operate a forklift and a drivable floor sweeper.

Must have the ability to lead, direct, and schedule work in the absence of a Supervisor. Must have a valid driver's license.

Must have a Kentucky-issued Commercial Driver's License or be able to obtain one within 180 days of employment.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Must be able to perform outside work in all kinds of weather. Must be able to work overtime and irregular hours for emergencies.

Some heavy lifting is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Heavy work requiring frequent physical activity to include walking, stooping, bending, frequent lifting up to 50 pounds, occasional lifting in excess of 50 pounds, climbing, kneeling, reaching, stooping, crawling, pushing, pulling, and working in awkward positions.

Exposure to varying temperature conditions including cold below 32 degrees and heat above 100 degrees.
