Job Description
Proposed Work Location : Census Bureau Headquarters, Suitland, Maryland
SNAP is pursuing a contract with the U.S. Census Bureau to provide an experienced Sr. COOP / Disaster Recovery Expert . The preferred candidate will possess Census Bureau experience, excellent people and leadership skills, and great communication and presentation skills.
This position will lead and will serve as a mentor for a team of Security Experts and Personnel on a large program supported by more than 100 full-time employees.
The selected candidate will perform the following duties (this is not a comprehensive list of all duties to be performed) :
- Develop and deliver Business Continuity Plans, Contingency Plans and Disaster Recovery Plans that address and cover the IT systems supporting the technical needs of Decennial program and operations.
- Provide strategic planning support for the Bureau-wide COOP Plan on behalf of the Decennial Directorate, as required.
- Design, plan and coordinate the implementation of disaster recovery test. This includes but not limited to the following :
- Development of Disaster Recovery documentation
- Development of test plans and scenarios for Disaster Recovery Tests
- Facilitate and conduct Disaster Recovery Tests
- Create Disaster Recovery test analysis report, which includes outcomes of the test,
recommended areas for improvement and lessons learned.
Assist in leveraging the existed back up processes to restore critical infrastructure
components and systems supporting Decennial programs during times of emergency
or intermittent service disruptions.
Qualifications
Technical Qualifications / Requirements
Qualified candidates should have :
Previous experience working as a Senior COOP / Disaster Recovery expert on a similar-sized
project.
- Extensive knowledge in continuity of operations and disaster recovery in a large-scale, extremely high availability project.
- Extensive knowledge of National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) best-practices for government systems.
- Ability to work with the key personnel "IT Security Manager - Senior", to incorporate COOP and Disaster Recovery plans into a System Security Plan (SSP) that meets or exceeds the government's requirement for a successful Authority of Operate (ATO) on each project.
Education / Certifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field plus a minimum of 5 years of related experience
