About The Position
Job Title : Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty : Operating Room (OR) Job Duration : 13 weeks Shift : 12-hour days Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week Experience : Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience License : Active RN License in Indiana or a compact state Certifications : - Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association Must-Have : Previous experience assisting anesthesia- Willingness to be trained and assist with anesthesia tasks as part of the assignment Job Description : Ability to circulate all open chest cases and assist in procedures such as insertion of lines (e.
g., Swan-Ganz, arterial line), Transesophageal Echocardiogram (TEE), and labs- Provide support to the anesthesia team- Utilize equipment including EPIC for charting, I-Stat for lab tests, and warming / cooling units- Participate in call duties approximately once every 7-10 days during weekdays / nights, and a full weekend call every 5-6 weeks- Float to core areas as needed, including general, ortho, and neuro units- Work in a Cardiovascular Operating Room with 4 ORs and a hybrid room;
Core OR comprises 13 ORs- Collaborate with 1-2 nurses depending on patient acuity- Adhere to dress code : wear a cloth cap and bouffant, no rings, avoid fake nails or nail polish, and ensure large earrings and necklaces are tucked- Engage in orientation and training programs, including Jumpstart and basic nursing / EPIC for 2-3 days in the OR and 1-2 days before working independentlyFacility does not guarantee block scheduling and alternative shifts (such as 4-10s or 5-8s) are not available.
Facility will accept local travelers with no change in conditions. Candidates must be okay with assisting anesthesia after being trained by the facility as it is a requirement of the position.
