Summary Description : The Property and Fleet Maintenance Technician is to ensure the overall maintenance repairs of all Greater Mental Health (GMH) buildings including but not limited to licensed and non-licensed apartment treatment and supportive housing units as well as Greater Mental Health (GMH) owned or leased buildings and vehicles.
Key Responsibilities :
- Responsible for documenting interior and exterior monthly inspections of all GMH buildings as it relates to upkeep and seasonal maintenance and repairs.
- Responsible for repair of minor kitchen and bathroom plumbing fixtures.
- Responsible for scheduling in-house interior and / or exterior repairs.
- Monitor and reports any repairs of mechanical, plumbing, electrical or HVAC equipment in MHA buildings.
- Schedule maintenance and repairs of building mechanical equipment, when needed.
- Responsible for on-call emergency issues. (on call 24 / 7 for emergency maintenance issues)
- Assists with all monthly inspections from outside vendors, as needed.
- Report any Fire Suppression Equipment, Fire Escape, Sprinkler system, Alarm equipment or appliance that appears to be compromised or not working.
- Assists in the care and maintenance of all agency vehicles including but not limited to maintenance, cleaning and disinfecting, when needed.
- Assist in disinfecting of buildings and vehicles, when needed.
- Assist with program operation needs and maintenance errands as requested.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities and / or Senior VP of Facilities.
Requirements :
- Must have a high school diploma or GED and 5 years of proven maintenance experience and / or a related degree from a technical school.
- Ability to use of hand and power tools.
- Ability to use common tools including but not limited to hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches.
- Must maintain pre-employment clearances by applicable regulatory clearances as required.
- Must have a valid New York State driver’s license, without current suspensions, or revocations, and a driving record that is satisfactory to GMH driver policy.
- Must maintain a defensive driving certificate every 3 years and complete an agency annual driver refresher training.
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.

- Frequently on feet, some walking and standing required.
- Frequent light (up to 25 pounds) lifting of materials / equipment required.
- Occasional heavy (over 25 pounds) lifting of materials / equipment required.
- Occasional exposure to noise.
- Occasional exposure to odors.
- Frequent light lifting and / or bending is required.
- Frequently operates motor vehicles.
- May have to work shifts where needed including weekends.

- Salary Range : $57,000- $60,000, based on departmental budget, qualifications, experience, education, and licenses. This range represents the agency’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
