The Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost at the University of Virginia seek s applications for a Front-End Web Developer to join the Executive Vice President and Provost’s Web Team .

The web developer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, project managers and web developers, to establish innovative high quality website development and deployment.

The successful candidate will be expected to :

  • Ensure that all websites meet the requirements, policies, and standards of the University, specifically UVA brand guidelines and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2 AA level).
  • C reate functional, visually appealing, and interactive website designs.
  • Assist with the development and deployment of new or redesigned websites.
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies, software development methodologies, and industry trends.
  • Provide training to stakeholders to ensure they understand the importance of web usability and accessibility.
  • Utilize reporting applications to maintain and improve site quality metrics .
  • Support web team with other web-related initiatives and projects.

Qualified candidates must have :

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology , Computer Science, or a closely related field with at least three years of experience developing front-end websites.

An equivalent combination of education or experience may also be considered.

  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Experience working with HTML5, CSS3, and popular content management systems and applications.
  • Knowledge of image authoring tools, for cropping, resizing, or performing small adjustments to images. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
  • Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA requirements and a demonstrated understanding of accessibility and usability for people with disabilities.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize multiple projects.

This position is remote.

The anticipated start date is July 1, 2024 .

Anticipated Hiring Range : $ 65,000 - $75,000 commensurate with education and experience. This is an exempt level, benefited position .
